The program Active light rotates weekly. It enables you to offer your clients a week program in the segment Active tourism in the Island of São Miguel.

The program focuses all the Highlights of the Island of São Miguel and will give our guests an insight of the history and of the life on the Azores (São Miguel).

The tours are easy to follow and will be guided in English by qualified Guides trained by us.

As we are a local Agency, operating all year through, we can guarantee the tour with a minimum participation of 2 Persons (adults).

The groups are open, which means that other guests might join them. At a minimum of 6 persons we can close the groups on request and give you the option of a Multilingual Guide (if available).

Info:

The tour starts towards the north coast passing by Ribeira Grande, stopping at the viewpoint of Santa Iria, where you can enjoy the beauty of the seashore. Then we continue to the tea factory. Here we will enjoy a nice cup of the local tea and learn about the only commercial tea plantations in Europe, its origin and its influence on the economic development of the Island of São Miguel.

Afterwards we prepare ourselves for a small walk through the tea plantation.

On the way back we drive to Ribeira Grande and have a typical regional dish. Afterwards we have a small digesting walk through the small town. In the end we visit a small Shipyard in Rabo de Peixe.

On this day we will learn a little about the geology and volcanism of the Island.

We will start the tour along the south coast up to “Lagoa do Fogo”, the highest lagoon of the Island. From there we continue to a small waterfall with warm thermal water, “Caldeira Velha”.

Afterwards, we drive towards the hot springs of Ribeira Grande. There we have a typical snack. After lunch we go through the mountain that surrounds “Lagoa de Congro”, where we have a little walk down to the lagoon.

After that we will drive to “Vila Franca do Campo” to taste the local famous “Queijadas da Vila”, a conventual pastry that is produced there. The last stop will be at the lava tunnel “Gruta do Carvão” in Ponta Delgada.

This is a day for pure relaxation! You can choose one of the activities from our program Unique Experiences, for example, Whale Watching, or simply unplug and chill out.

This is also a buffer day (Arrivals/ Departures)! It enables us also to adjust for rainy days or clients who don’t arrive on a Sunday or on a Wednesday.

Today you are the Chef. We start the day driving to Furnas where we will prepare ourselves the delicious typical dish “Cozido das Furnas”. When the cooking pot is full and ready it is time to bury it. It takes about 6 hours to cook.

While we wait, we have time for a walk around the Lagoon and to visit the beautiful “Terra Nostra” Garden, where you can have a thermal bath in a hot spring pool.

Before we pick up our dinner we have a small walk around “Caldeiras das Furnas” with a variety of hot springs and mineral waters.

By the end of the day we will enjoy our Cozido in the nice atmosphere of a local Restaurant.

“Sete Cidades”, on the western side of the Island of São Miguel, was elected in 2011 the first of the seven natural wonders of Portugal.

We start our walk from the viewpoint of “Vista do Rei”, where we can enjoy the magnificent view over “Sete Cidades”, a volcanic complex as well as its twin lakes (Blue and Green lakes). Then we start our walk along the crater and down to the village of “Sete Cidades”. Here we will have the opportunity to taste some of the typical dishes from the island for lunch.

On our way back, and before we arrive at the pineapple plantations in Fajã de Baixo, to learn a little about this exotic fruit, we will pass and stop by “Lagoa de Santiago”, a beautiful small lagoon, and by “Pico de Carvão”, a viewpoint where you can have an amazing view over the narrower part of the Island and see the north and the south coast at the same time.

Today we are going to the southeast part of the island, the village of Povação, which was the first part of the island to be populated.

Before we walk to the waterfall, we will have a small stroll to get to know the village, and have the opportunity of tasting the typical pastry 'Fofas da Povoação'. Then, we will drive to Faial da Terra. Here begins our walk to the Waterfall, “Salto de Prego”, one of the most beautiful ones on our island.

On the way back we pass through the small mountain village “Sanguinho” and get back to Faial da Terra. Here we have a snack before driving back to Ponta Delgada, passing and stopping at some viewpoints.
